Crispy Garlic & Herb Baked Potato Fries

Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, High-Fibre, No Deep Frying

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, these baked potato fries are everything you crave in a classic fry, but without the deep fryer. The secret? A perfect balance of olive oil, warming spices, and a touch of gluten-free bread crumbs for that extra crunch. Each bite is packed with garlicky, savoury goodness, making these fries completely irresistible. Not only are these fries ridiculously delicious, but they’re also made with wholesome, simple ingredients and baked to perfection. Soaking the potatoes beforehand helps remove excess starch, giving you that ultra-crispy texture without needing excess oil. Potatoes are an excellent source of vitamins C and B6, potassium, and fibre, supporting immune function, heart health, and digestion. They’re a great source of complex carbohydrates, giving you sustained energy and keeping you full. Paired with extra virgin olive oil, a heart-healthy fat rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, these fries become even more nourishing. EVOO supports brain health, helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels, and promotes digestion, all while enhancing the fries’ natural flavour. These fries are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan, with no deep frying involved, making them a healthier alternative to traditional fries. They’re also high-fibre and nutrient-dense, keeping you full and supporting gut health. Whether you’re serving them as a side dish, snack, or part of a balanced meal, these fries will have everyone coming back for more!

Ingredients

4 large organic russet potatoes, cut into fries

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tbsp onion powder

1 tbsp dried minced onion

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)

½ tsp black pepper

2 tbsp organic gluten-free bread crumbs (for extra crispiness)

Method

Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch (optional but recommended for extra crispiness). Drain and pat completely dry.

In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, minced onion, paprika, salt, pepper, and bread crumbs until evenly coated.

Spread them out in a single layer on the baking sheet, making sure they aren’t crowded (this helps them crisp up).

Bake for 45 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until golden brown and crispy. Every oven is different, so check them in the last 10 minutes.

Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with your favourite dip!

Serving Suggestions

Pair with a homemade garlic aioli, sugar-free ketchup, or dairy-free ranch.

Serve alongside a high-protein burger, grilled chicken, or a fresh salad.

Sprinkle with fresh parsley or nutritional yeast for extra flavour.

These fries are proof that healthy eating doesn’t mean sacrificing flavour. They’re crispy, golden, and bursting with the perfect blend of garlic, onion, and smoked paprika. Once you try them, you’ll never want to go back to deep-fried fries again!
